Construction for the Greater Good

Noticing the increase of poverty in the University District and the Greater Seattle Area, the brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon decided to take action to combat this social injustice. On a bright and sunny Saturday, the brothers drove to the neighborhood of High Point in Seattle to  help with the construction of public housing in the area. Throughout the day, the brothers were able to organize, cut, and assemble lumber that would be used for low-income housing. Although the service event demanded heavy lifting in dangerous construction zones, the bros did not mind lending a helping hand. Throughout the process, the brothers interacted with the future tenants of the houses that they built from the ground up. In the end, the brothers were able to grasp a better understanding of current socio-economic factors while making tangible differences in the lives of real people and the surrounding community. Habitat for Humanity: it’s more than just building a house. It’s building a home.
